Api es Vida
Bees create biodiversity
Why save the bees?
Bees face challenges due to human impact like climate change, pesticides, deforestation, and overpopulation. As vital pollinators for plants and food, their decline endangers ecosystems and food resources. To protect them, humans must act to preserve life.
We appreciate everyone who wants to be a part of our mission to protect bees and the environment. By working together, we can help ensure a healthy planet for us and future generations.
ยปSaving the bees is not a one manโs job, it is everybodyโs responsibility to our community, to our planet, to life! Join us in making a difference!

Our way to help bees
The project was founded in 2015 by Carlos Castillo and Liz Paniagua and is located in the South Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. Api-agricultura was created as an iniciative to protect and rescue bees including Apis-Mellifera (honeybee) and Meliponines (stingless bees), as they were being ruthlessly exterminated in our community and in other parts of the country.
Volunteering
Our goal is to connect individuals with nature and raise awareness about the vital role that bees play in our ecosystem. Experience the great Caribbean coast and its jungle while taking part in eco-friendly initiatives. Help us to create a healthier planet.
Bee tours
You are invited to pay a visit to our farm nestled in the heart of the countryside. Wander through our stunning beegarden and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature while marveling at the diverse species of stingless bees.
Stingless
Bees
Many different bee species feel at home in the tropics and subtropics. A group of bees form the stingless bees (Meliponines), which can often be discovered on a wide variety of flowers. The family of Meliponines is one of the most important pollinators.
